Frequently Asked Questions:

DO I NEED TO PREPARE MY SKIN BEFORE HAVING THIS TREATMENT?

No, extensive skin preparation is not required for this superficial Salicylic Acid face peel. Regardless of ethnicity and skin type, you can undergo the treatment on the day of your appointment.

DO I NEED TO USE SPECIFIC PRODUCTS AFTER A CHEMICAL FACE PEEL?

Yes, following your chemical face peel, it is recommended to use a medical moisturizer to aid in the shedding of dead skin. Additionally, wearing an approved medical SPF for at least 14 days (though long-term use is recommended) is essential.

WHAT STEPS SHOULD I TAKE BEFORE MY PEEL FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS?

To achieve the best results, it is advisable to discontinue the use of active skincare products containing retinol, glycolic acid, other AHA’s, or bleaching agents for 3 days before your peel. Avoid sunbed treatments, sunburn, or any facial burns in the two weeks leading up to the peel. If your skin barrier is impaired (dry), preparation with medical skincare products before the Obagi Blue Radiance Peel is recommended.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE AFTER A FACE PEEL?

For 72 hours post-peel, it's advised to avoid sweating, exercising, hot baths, and showers. Refrain from scrubbing, picking, or rubbing the skin for 5 days after treatment. Strong sun exposure, including sunbathing with your face in the sun and tanning beds, should be avoided for at least 14 days post-treatment.

WHAT IS AN OBAGI BLUE PEEL RADIANCE PEEL?

The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a salicylic acid face peel that includes active ingredients like lactic acid and glycolic acid. This cosmetic treatment exfoliates and brightens the complexion by removing a layer of damaged skin to reveal a healthier layer beneath.

WHAT ARE THE KEY COMPONENTS OF OBAGI BLUE PEEL RADIANCE?

Obagi Blue Peel Radiance consists of 20% Salicylic Acid, 2% Glycolic Acid, and 2% Lactic Acid.

WHERE ON MY BODY CAN I HAVE AN OBAGI BLUE PEEL RADIANCE?

You can undergo this treatment on your face, neck, shoulders, and upper back. It is commonly used on the neck or shoulders/upper back to address breakouts and acne scarring.

HOW MANY PEELS WILL I NEED?

The number of treatments required varies based on the type of peel and specific skin concerns. While some clients opt for a one-off Obagi Blue Radiance Peel for skin refreshment or breakout control, a course of 3 to 6 treatments is recommended for dramatic results or to address specific skin conditions like acne or hyperpigmentation.

ARE THERE POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS?

Depending on your skin type and home care regimen, a skin peel may lead to increased sensitivity. Possible side effects include stinging, itching, irritation, redness, swelling, tightness, peeling, scabbing of the skin, scarring, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and hypopigmentation.
