Ageing manifests as a result of the changes in the facial skeleton, ligaments, muscles, adipose tissue, and skin. The characteristic signs of ageing in facial skin are, in part, associated with age-related alterations in the subcutaneous adipose tissue of the face.

The movement of fat within compartments, due to gravity, can result in a downwards displacement of the overlying skin envelope. This repositioning or shift of fat often leads to increased hollows in the cheeks and to a flattening of facial angles. Consequently, there is a loss of fat volume in the middle and lateral cheek compartments.  PROFHILO® STRUCTURA provides a lipolifting effect by restoring adipose tissue and leading to deep firmness.

▼ Can I return to work afterwards?
You might notice a some swelling or tenderness at the injection sites for 24–48 hours after treatment.
▼ Will it hurt and how long does it take?
The procedure is relatively pain-free with potential mild discomfort from the needle/cannula. You may feel a small pinch or slight pressure, the procedure is usually very well tolerated. Numbing cream is used. The procedure itself takes around 15 minutes.
▼ Are there any side effects or risks?
Profhilo Structura is a considered a very safe treatment when carried out by a medical professional. Side effects are typically mild and may include slight swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection site, which usually resolves within 24–48 hours. It is important you follow your aftercare advice.
▼ Is this treatment suitable for everybody?
You are unsuitable for treatment if:
  • You have any infection present at or near the injection sites
  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
▼ How do I prepare for the appointment?
Arnica tablets are great to help with bruising – you can take these for a few days before treatment. Antihistamines can help with swelling. Please do not drink alcohol for 24 hours before or after your appointment. Avoid any laser treatments, chemical peels or microneedling for 2 weeks before and after your treatment. Please try to eat and drink something before your appointment to avoid feeling light headed during the procedure. Please come to your appointment make up free or with minimal make up.
▼ Is there any aftercare advice?
Yes! Try to avoid ibuprofen and aspirin for the first 24 hours as this can increase bruising. Paracetamol is fine. Avoid alcohol and exercise for at least 24 hours. Avoid rubbing the areas of the face that have been injected for 24 hours - this includes having facials or facial massage. You can wash your face the evening of the treatment with a gentle cleanser. Avoid any retinols or acids that day. Avoid applying makeup directly to the injection sites for 24 hours. You may apply makeup to the other areas of your face. Avoid saunas, hot tubs or tanning booths for 2 weeks after treatment. Try to sleep without putting pressure on your face for the first week.
